I went out for a run with an old friend today.
It's funny how as we get older we can appreciate people in a different way.
When I was in my teens and twenties, I didn't really think I had many friends. People thought I was incredibly confident (and so I seemed) but inside - just a very insecure and SHY little girl. Moving around a lot as a kid/teen probably had a great deal to do with having lots of acquaintances but no lasting friends. Or so I thought.
Today, I realized just how much some of those old "acquaintances" mean to me. And I realized that many of them actually are friends.
Running has become the vehicle for re-sparking those friendships, developing new ones and cementing bonds long forgotten.
Thank you, friend, for our run/talk today.
